So lately I have developed a bit of a taste for really textural IDM/Glitchy tunes and as they do they bounce around in my head, bumping, tweaking, pushing and scraping the inside of my scone and this is what fell out. It follows a theme which seems to be popping up rather readily in my work of primitive 3D forms and a stack of saturated colours. It seems to work, does give a very clubby feel which doesn’t quite fit the track but as a quick experiment I am happy with the result. I also found with this experiment that using a mesh emitter with a systematic spawn (spawns incrementally along the vertex array positions) gave an interesting and more considered effect than pure random noise.
Follow this link to see the experiment running in real time in your browser, you will need to download the Unity 3D plugin to view it.
The track is is ‘Alicrass’ from the free Sk’p EP. This and more of his awesome work can be found on soundcloud.com/skiponline.
